Be sure to not make any hasty decisions, and definitely give your desired domain name some testing before making the purchase.
Use a whois lookup tool to verify whether or not a desired domain is still available for registration. If a domain name has already been registered, then the lookup will usually give the information for the current registrant, along with contact details, that you can use to make enquiries about the continued use and registration.
